SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 Overview

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the notification for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill approximately 2,536 vacancies for Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO) positions across various central government ministries and departments.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 12th Standard (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
• Age Limit & Category-wise Relaxation: As per standard SSC rules and Government of India guidelines.

Selection Process

The selection procedure consists of three stages:

1. Tier 1 Examination (CBT): Objective multiple-choice screening test (100 questions / 200 marks). Tier 1 scores are qualifying for shortlisting candidates to Tier 2.
2. Tier 2 Examination (CBT + Skill/Typing Test):

   • Session 1: Section-1 (Maths & Reasoning), Section-2 (English & General Awareness), Section-3 Module-1 (Computer Knowledge Module - Qualifying).
   • Session 2: Section-3 Module-2 (Skill Test for DEO / Typing Test for LDC & JSA - Qualifying).
   • Final merit is calculated based strictly on performance in Section-1 and Section-2 of Tier 2.
3. Document Verification (DV): Verification of original certificates for provisionally shortlisted candidates.

Exam Pattern

Tier 1 Exam Pattern

• General Intelligence: 25 Questions (50 Marks)
• General Awareness: 25 Questions (50 Marks)
• Quantitative Aptitude: 25 Questions (50 Marks)
• English Language: 25 Questions (50 Marks)
• Total: 100 Questions | 200 Marks | 60 Minutes (80 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates)
• Negative Marking: 0.50 marks per wrong answer

Tier 2 Exam Pattern

• Section 1 (60 Qs, 180 Marks): Mathematical Abilities (30 Qs) + Reasoning & General Intelligence (30 Qs) — Duration: 1 Hour
• Section 2 (60 Qs, 180 Marks): English Language & Comprehension (40 Qs) + General Awareness (20 Qs) — Duration: 1 Hour
• Section 3 Module 1 (15 Qs, 45 Marks): Computer Knowledge Module — Duration: 15 Minutes (Qualifying)
• Section 3 Module 2: Skill Test / Typing Test (Qualifying)
• Negative Marking: 1 mark per incorrect answer in Section 1, Section 2, and Module 1 of Section 3.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

• UR: 30%
• OBC / EWS: 25%
• SC / ST / PwBD / ESM: 20%

• Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) if you are a new user.
• Log in, fill out the SSC CHSL 2026 application form, and upload required documents.
